One of the best, if not the best part of any Disneyland vacation are the beignets!
While there are some any delicious snacks, drinks, and foods at both Disneyland and California Adventure like Dole Whip and churros, beignets are by far one of the few I truly look forward to eating during every visit.
What are beignets?
A beignet is a deliciously warm, fluffy pillow of dough, perfectly fried to a golden perfection that is generously dusted with a snowy coating of powdered sugar that adds a delightful sweetness to every bite.
When you take your first mouthwatering bite, the outside crackles ever so slightly, revealing a pillowy interior that melts in your mouth. The combination of the crispy outer layer and the soft, doughy inside creates a delightful texture that is simply irresistible.
Traditionally, beignets are made in a rectangular shape, but Disneyland put their own little twist to it by making them Mickey Ear shaped!
Where to find beignets at Disneyland
There are two locations where you’ll find beignets at Disneyland Resort:
- Mint Julep Bar
- Beignets Expressed
You’ll normally find Mickey Beignets at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square inside of Disneyland Park. However, since that entire area is currently being re-themed to Tiana’s Place, the Mickey Beignets have been temporarily moved to Royal Street Veranda and Hungry Bear Restaurant.
You can also find beignets in Downtown Disney at Beignets Expressed which is connected to Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill and Patio. The restaurant also has beignets on the menu too.
Mickey-shaped Beignet Flavors
Here are all of the Mickey-shaped beignet options you’ll find inside Disneyland Park:
- Mickey-Shaped Beignets
Disneyland also will have seasonal beignets throughout the year too. Here are some of the most recent flavors:
- butter cookie (with a cookie butter dipping sauce)
- sour cherry
- banana
- pumpkin spiced
- white chocolate matcha (with a matcha milk dipping sauce)
You can sometimes even find uniquely shaped seasonal beignets like Yoda-shaped or heart-shaped.
You’ll usually find the uniquely shaped beignets during certain special events or holidays.
Beignets Expressed Flavors
Here are all of beignet flavors and options offered at Beignets Expressed:
- Original New Orleans Beignets
- Glazed Banana Foster Beignets
- Glazed Snickerdoodle Beignets
- Glazed of the Month Beignets
They also offer a chocolate, raspberry, or caramel dipping sauce.
Beignets Expressed vs Mint Julep Bar
Although Beignets Expressed (previously known as Ralph Brennana’s Jazz Kitchen Express) has been a fan-favorite for ages, I personally have to give the edge to Mint Julep Bar. Those Mickey beignets just hit differently.
But at the end of the day, that’s up for you to decide.
Are Disneyland Mickey Beignets better than Disney World’s?
100% yes. I know that there are people who swear by the Mickey-shaoed beignets found at the Scat Cat’s Club Cafe in Port Orleans French Quarter, but they honestly don’t hit the same as the ones from Disneyland.
Disneyland’s are light and airy while Disney Worlds are a little cakey and dense. However, Disney World does have a beignet ice cream sundae which is pretty cool.
