No, you cannot still swim with the sharks at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park because that attraction closed permanently on October 3, 2016.
Swimming with Sharks at Typhoon Lagoon
Shark Reef made its debut in 1989, offering guests the opportunity to engage in snorkeling amidst a vibrant underwater ecosystem.
This immersive experience featured an unheated reef teeming with various marine creatures, including stingrays, bonehead sharks, leopard sharks, and a multitude of colorful tropical fish, all thriving within a vast saltwater pool spanning 362,000 gallons. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of guests, they were provided with essential gear such as masks, snorkels, and life jackets. For those who preferred not to swim, an underwater glass viewing window allowed for an equally captivating glimpse of the aquatic life.
Subsequently, the animal inhabitants of Shark Reef have been relocated to different locations within the Walt Disney World Resort, ensuring their continued well-being and presence in alternative habitats.
