Have you ever wondered how much money Disneyland makes in just one day?
Well you’re not alone! It’s no surprise considering the tens of millions of people who visit Disney’s theme parks and resorts every year, making them a significant source of income for the Walt Disney Company.
In this article, we’ll provide you with an inside look into the daily earnings of Disneyland Resort.
We’ll also explore the estimated operational expenses associated with running Disneyland, as well as the annual revenue from theme ticket sales, merchandise, food and beverage, and lodging.
So with that said, let’s jump right in to the numbers!
Disneyland Daily Income in 2023
Disneyland makes around $21,070,000 a day on average.
Here’s a breakdown of my estimation:
- Theme Park Tickets = $13.1 million
- Food and Drinks = $4.6 million
- Merchandise = $1.87 million
- Hotel and Lodging = $1.6 million
Total = $21.07 million
This amount will vary based on the time of the year, days of the week, and holidays, so please keep that in mind.
There are two things that I’m not accounting for – parking and sponsors.

Disneyland Ticket Sales
Disneyland makes over $13.1 million a day on park ticket.
Daily Disneyland ticket sales vary depending on the season, the day of the week, and crowd levels so these numbers are only approximations and can fluctuate drastically.
Currently, One-Day Disneyland tickets range from $104 to $179 per person. One-Day Park Hopper tickets range from $169 to $244 per person.
Disneyland Park receives approximately 51,000 visitors per day while Disney California Adventure receives approximately 27,000 visitors per day.
Okay, now let’s have some fun.
Disneyland’s max capacity is set at 85,000 visitors while is capped at 50,000. If both parks were sold out and the ticket prices were at it’s highest ($179 or $244), then Disneyland could be making around 28.4 million dollars just on ticket sales.
*When calculating the daily park ticket income, I’m assuming that 10% of the park visitors are Magic Key annual passholders.
Nightly Hotel Income
All three Disneyland Resort hotels are making $1.6 million a day combined, on average.
All three Disneyland Resort hotels are hovering around an 82% daily occupancy rate, and it’s been increasing year over year.
Here’s how much each hotel is estimated to be bringing in each night:
- Grand Californian (1,090 rooms) = $604,210
- Disneyland Hotel (1,344 rooms) = $898,185
- Paradise Pier (481 rooms) = $162,107
According to this report, average room rates at all three hotels are as followed:
- Grand Californian = $676
- Disneyland Hotel = $548
- Paradise Pier Hotel = $411
Food and Drink Sales
Disneyland makes $4.6 million a day on food and drinks.
On average, each person can spend around $70 per day on food and drinks at Disneyland, especially with how expensive everything has gotten. I that there will be thousands of people each day who may not even buy anything to eat or drink, so I’ve also accounted for them when crunching the numbers.
Merchandise Sales
Guesstimating how much Disneyland makes on merchandise sales is by far the most difficult calculation. Everyone’s spending habits are so different so it’s hard to gauge just how much Disney is making from clothes, souvenirs, jewelry, balloons, etc.
This will probably be the most inaccurate figure by far, but if we assume that 80% of the daily visitors spend $30 on merchandise a day, it will come out to be $1.87 million.
This income would be split between Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney.
Disneyland’s Operating Expenses
Although Disneyland’s daily gross income is, on average, they do have a significant amount of operational costs.
Disneyland’s average daily operation costs are $5.3 million.
Examples of these operational costs are labor, utilities, maintenance, supplies, etc.
Here’s how much Disneyland pays each day to keep the entire resort up and running:
- Cast Member Salaries = $446,000 per day
- Utilities = $2.7 million
- Maintenance = $7,500 per day
- Hotels = $174,900 to run the hotels each day (costs around $65 a day to run a hotel per night according to Yahoo Finance)
- Supplies = $228,000
- Fireworks = $50,000 per performance (although Disney World’s are sponsored by Pandora so Disneyland may have a sponsor for them)
- Miscellaneous = $1.7 million (advertising, marketing, landscaping, etc)
Disneyland’s Daily Net Income
After all expenses, Disneyland makes $15.8 million in net profit every single day, on average.
Final Thoughts
Disneyland Resort has a remarkable ability to generate substantial and consistent revenue through various channels, such as theme ticket sales, VIP tours, merchandise, and food and drinks (including alcohol).
However, operating a major theme park like Disneyland Resort comes with its fair share of expenses and daily operational costs such as fireworks, Cast Member wages, utilities, maintenance, insurance, and other essential factors to keep the park up and running.
Despite these significant expenses, Disneyland Resort continues to attract millions of visitors from around the world, captivating them with its magical and enchanting experiences.
Given Disney’s incredible IP, exceptional attractions, and innovative television and social media marketing strategies, it’s difficult to envision anyone else achieving the same level of success in the travel and tourism industry.
It’s no surprise that Disney Parks as a whole generate billions of dollars in annual revenue, considering their immense appeal and widespread global popularity.
