I’m a huge fan of the cabanas on Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. Sure they may seem a little overpriced for what you get, but in reality, if you prioritize having a private area to relax during your beach day, as well as have access to a virtually empty private beach, then a family cabana is well worth it.
I recently enjoyed a Family Cabana during my last cruise, and I must say, it was a lot better than the adults-only one at Serenity Bay. Here’s what you can expect inside of a Family Cabana at Disney’s Castaway Cay.
Castaway Cay Family Cabana Review

Here’s how my experience went from start to finish in a family cabana.
The day before your cabana rental, you’ll receive an information packet as well as “cabana” wristbands that will give you access to your cabana and the cabanas only area.
Once you disembark from the ship, all you have to do is proceed to the tram and get off at Pelican Point. From there, just check in at the cabana desk and you’ll then hop on to a private golf cart that will take you and your entire group to your cabana.
We were in Cabana 5, which in my opinion had one of the best locations of all 21 cabanas.
Once we got there, the cabana concierge hosts, gave us a rundown of the cabana as well as all the perks. The best thing was that these were the same Concierge Cast Members that are found in the Concierge Lounge on the ship.
The cabana was very spacious and felt very private. I especially loved that there was already and pack and play in the cabana all set up for our infant. It was great because I didn’t even request one so that was a great touch.
Compared to the cabanas at Serenity Bay, they were basically identical. The only difference was the the area outside of the cabana was a lit bit smaller. Plus, there wasn’t a sink like there was in the adults one. But those two things didn’t really affect us to be honest, especially since we were just a few steps away from the cabana-guest-only portion of the beach.
Honestly having your own section of the beach was a game changer. There were zero crowds and you literally didn’t have to fight for chairs since so many were readily available.
Being at Cabana 5, we also had a short 90 second walk to Cookie’s for lunch as well as their all you can eat self serve ice cream machines.
Once it was time to leave, our cabana attendants arranged transportation back to the tram station. From there we just hopped on the tram and headed back to the ship.
How much does a Castaway Cay Family Cabana cost?
- Family Beach Cabana = $880 for 6 guests with a max of 10 guests. There is a $50 charge for additional guests ages 3 and up. Guests ages 0-2 are free.
- Grand Family Cabana = $1,238 for 10 guests with a max of 16 guests. There is a $50 charge for additional guests ages 3 and up. Guests ages 0-2 are free.
What’s not included in a Castaway Cay Family Cabana Rental?
The most significant thing that isn’t included in your cabana rental is alcohol. The bar is only a few steps away and you can have alcoholic drinks delivered to your cabana, which is nice.
As for food, besides the bag of chips, fruit platter, and granola bars, there isn’t any additional food items that you can get, such as a cabana menu you’ll find at like Aulani. Plus, you can’t get any food delivered to your cabana from Cookie’s BBQ.
That said, those are just very minor things that really should take away from the fact that a cabana is a great way to enjoy the beach as well as have a private area to relax and unwind.
Is it worth $880?
Absolutely, especially if you prioritize privacy, relaxation, and lighter crowds.
